The Canon 7 boasts an integrated selenium light meter and was the last model compatible with the Leica M39 lens mount. It was introduced in September 1961 as a focal-plane shutter rangefinder system camera by Canon Inc. Later variations, known as the Canon 7s and Canon 7s Type II (or Canon 7sZ), featured a powerful cadmium sulfide light meter.
